Rollercoaster Ride

As of yesterday, Sean and I received news that the buyer of our house did not qualify for the loan on our house. Yep, so we are back at it. Our house is back on the market. We are actually having 2 people come by the house today.  Good news is that we don’t have to go through with moving as of right yet and we now have more time to actually find a house that we can buy instead of renting for awhile. Which is also okay with me because even finding a house to rent was becoming a struggle and we were getting nervous of the time frame of when we needed to sign a lease and move out.  In the back of my mind, I had a feeling that something was up with this whole situation of our house.  Everything just didn’t seem right. The buyer had known that our paperwork was approved like a month ago and they hadn’t even done the inspection on our house so me and Sean were a little uneasy that they didn't try and make an appointment to do this already.  Then the fact that we just weren’t really finding a house to rent. I knew that our situation wasn't going to happen like it was supposed to.  It is true, nothing ever goes according to plan with selling a house.  There’s always a delay with paperwork, the closing date is never usually the day that they say (our’s was March 19), the buyer doesn’t qualify or people just simply back out.  We have spoken to our real estate agent about asking for pre-qualification prior to getting into a contract – which Sean and I thought was the norm and taken care of prior to signing a contract and he has now agreed to do this with us for us. I guess we learned of this the hard way.  The other aspect of this is that when the next buyer comes along we will have to re-submit our paperwork again and it will go through the whole process again with our lender. So that is a little bit of a downside but we are fairly hopeful regarding this because our investor, Fannie Mae (and Freddie Mac) have recently come out and said that they are approving of short sales fairly quickly because they do not want to lose anymore money like they have been doing the past few years.

Anyway, since half of our house is packed up in boxes we are planning on this weekend of putting it into storage.  I can’t live with boxes stacked everywhere! Hunter is going to start climbing up them along with our cat, Marley.  All in all, I’m a bit relieved. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders.  I knew that moving was going to be hard but when you have a baby in the mix it makes it extra hard. I can’t imagine having a larger family and trying to move while working full time.  Whoooo, just thinking of that makes me anxious!

We’ll keep you posted.

Too late...looks like Hunter has joined Marley!
